Cedar House

PROJECT OVERVIEW
AltiGeo was appointed to complete a topographical survey, measured building survey, drone survey, and Scan-to-BIM package for Cedar House Nursing Home in Stillorgan, Dublin 14.
Survey Method
As the building was unoccupied, the survey was carried out efficiently by two teams working simultaneously. The topographical survey was completed using a Leica TS16 Total Station and Leica GS18 GNSS.
LiDAR Scanning
External laser scanning was carried out with a Leica RTC360, using black-and-white targets for geolocation and cross-checking. Internal scanning was completed with a Leica BLK360, with all scan data registered in Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360 PLUS. A total of 786 scan setups were recorded.
Drone Survey
A drone survey was undertaken to capture the roof areas and other elements not fully accessible by terrestrial LiDAR. The drone imagery was processed into a geolocated photogrammetric pointcloud and combined with the LiDAR and topographical survey data.
CAD & BIM Production
The coordinated survey dataset was used by AltiGeo’s CAD and BIM team to produce accurate 2D CAD drawings and a BIM model of the existing nursing home.
